RADON- is a cancer-causing radioactive gas. You cannot see, smell, or taste radon, but it may be a problem in your home. Radon gas can enter your home through cracks and gaps in the homes walls, floors, and through service pipes.
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), there are about 21,000 lung cancer deaths in the United States each year that are related to exposure to radon, and it is the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. In order to help keep your family safe Cahaba Home Inspection Services offers radon testing in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.
Because there is no safe level of radon exposure, the EPA recommends you get the radon levels in your home fixed if they are between 2pCi/L and 4pCi/L. (the national average is about 1.3pCi/L for most houses and buildings.)
RADON TESTING WITH CAHABA HOME INSPECTION SERVICES
Cahaba Home Inspection Services offers the most comprehensive radon testing possible. Options for Radon Testing include passive monitoring utilizing charcoal canisters as well as electronic continuous radon monitor testing.
We prefer continuous monitors when possible. Our electronic continuous monitors provide a complete report that passive testing devices cannot offer. For example, our monitors take hourly radon samples, temperature readings and barometric pressure readings, and they also have a tamper-resistant feature that will void the test if it is disturbed during operation.
Test results for the electronic continuous monitors is available same day as pickup! How does it work? Our electronic continuous monitors connect to our mobile devices via Bluetooth and then the test report is downloaded to our mobile device. This is benifitial to our clients that have a short window to complete the inspection/testing process.
